Hi all,

Slicer is built on top of vtk (which you know). There are some
complications with building vtk on RedHat 7, but they have been solved by
many people and the information is on the mailing list at

Follow the link to "search email" and search for RedHat 7 or 7.0.

Right now I am using slicer under RedHat Linux (I believe 6.2), but with
RedHat 7 you are supposed to get 3D acceleration in hardware, so that
should be better.

Hello everybody,

since some days I try to install 3D slicer on Linux platforms. Neither
Red Hat Linux 7.0 nor SuSE Linux 7.0 allow me successfully to compile
vtk so far.

Anybody may tell me the following specifications ?
1.) Which Linux distribution is used for existing Linux installations ?
2.) Which combination of package versions of gcc, Mesa, tcl, tk and vtk
I need to use ?

If I would know this, further intends would be possible. :-)

Help !

Best regards and thank you in anticipation,
