I guess a couple of problems need be solved. I have had problems with not 
rectangular images. You might best go to 256x256, 512x512. Tiff isanother 
problem. Go to raw. You can do this under linux using ImageMagick and the 
mogrify command. It can: proces a set a image files, resample to another 
grid, and convert to raw all at once. Something like:
    mogrify -format raw -geometry 256x256 /dir/frame*.tif
But best look at the manual page.
