[slicer-users] Slicer/VTK installation clash on Windows

Hi,

First of all, as a new user of 3D Slicer: thank you very much. It is
simply excellent.

I'm exploring Slicer at the same time as VTK itself, but I'm having a
slight problem with a clash between the two.

I install Slicer and everything works fine. I then install the TCL
bindings for VTK, after which the VTK TCL examples work fine. At the
same time, though, Slicer stops working and gives the following error on
startup:

invalid command name "vtkMrmlSlicer"
  while executing
"vtkMrmlSlicer Slicer"
  (procedure "MainBoot" line 17)
  invoked from within
"MainBoot [lindex $argv 0]"
  (file C:\Program Files\3D Slicer 1.2.2\program\Go.tcl" line 277)

This seems to be because of a clash between the Slicer and VTK TCL
systems.

Can anyone suggest a way of solving this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Carl
