I don't know if this is useful, but here is a feature I added in slicer
last semester:

I added the functionality to save the whole slicer view (3D view + 3
slices) as a picture (in TIFF or BMP).
You can save one picture or a series of frame everytime you render.

It's in the View module, bottom frame.
Just press the "Save View" button , select the "with slice
windows" option if you want the 3 slice windows in your picture (note that
this option doesn't work with the ppm format) and then left click in the
View to render. This will save the current view of the slicer in the
directory you specified.

If you want to save another view, unselect the Save View button, find
the appropriate view in slicer and start the whole process again.

Alternatively, you can just press the Save View button and then start
interacting with the viewer. This will save a movie (series of frame) of
what is happening on the screen. This is especially useful if you have a
fly-through path defined in the endoscopic module and you want to save a
movie of the fly-through (just press the Save View button and start the
fly-through).
